Hook and Line


Is a general term that is used to describe a wide range of fishing methods that use short lines with hooks (can change depending on the target species) . It includes hand-lines, hand reels, rod/pole and line and troll lines. The method and bait used differs greatly depending on the target species.  Trolling lines involves lines drug behind the boat, jigging is when vertical lines are moved up and down to attract fish. 

Advantages
-very selective in terms of species and size, and provides high quality fish.
-can be used for spawning fish.
-lines are set for a short time allowing unwanted species to be returned.
