Slow Fish Campaign

It's up to us!

Our food choices have a significant impact not only our quality of life but on the health of the planet. As consumers we all have the power to have a postive influence - when we are doing the shopping or eating out in restaurants - and by reconsidering our fish consumption habits, we can start making aware choices that are both tasty and responsible.

Slow Food has been raisng awareness of the critical situation facing our seas through the biennial Slow Fish event held in Genoa, Italy for some years, as well as through projects to support small-scale, sustainable fishing communities. With this campaign, 'sustainable fish' becomes a focus for the entire Slow Food network - 100,000 members in 1,000 convivia - and a theme for events and activities being held in communities all around the world as part of the Slow Fish Challenge.

On this site you find some initial pointers on how to modify your purchasing and consumption habits so that together we can all help to turn things round, as well as links to regional guides and campaigns on the Resources page.
